KANSAS STATE FAIR

Since 1913, the Kansas State Fair has been hosted at the Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, just a half hour drive from the Country Inn. The fair starts each year on the Friday before Labor Day and runs for 10 days each year, starting on the Friday before Labor Day. The excitement of the fair includes livestock competitions, a midway, rides, food vendors, and concerts.

KANSAS COSMOSPHERE

The Cosmosphere is a must-see Hutchinson attraction. The Hall of Space Museum includes artifacts from the space programs of the United States and Russia, while the Justice Planetarium provides a tour of the night sky. In addition, watch breathtaking documentaries or take in a feature film at the state-of-the-art Carey Digital Dome Theater. The Cosmosphere also offers day and overnight camps and a corporate training program.

KANSAS UNDERGROUND SALT MUSEUM

At Strataca: The Kansas Underground Salt Museum, you will descend 650 feet below the surface of the earth to explore the history of salt mining and the wonder of fossils. While below, you can ride the Salt Mine Express train through what was once part of the Carey Salt mines. Discover the mystery of the world of the mines with a visit to Strataca.

FUN VALLEY SPORTS COMPLEX / HOBART-DETTER FIELD

Just a short drive from the Country Inn are the Fun Valley Sports Complex and Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson. These athletic facilities host numerous baseball and softball tournaments each year.

MORTON SALT

A large pile of crushed rock salt at the Morton salt mine in America. Natural rock salt, also called halite, is mined in much the same way as coal and is usually marketed without purification, after crushing and screening.
